Antioxidant Sun Butter with non-nano zinc oxide is a natural and effective way to protect your skin from harmful environmental stressors. Butters may melt if left in direct sun causing separation. If separation occurs, stir with a clean utensil to evenly distribute the zinc oxide and place in a cool place to solidify, but DO NOT REFRIGERATE as it will solidify unevenly.

Begin with freshly cleansed, hydrated skin. If it’s been a while since your moisturizer, spritz with a hydrating mist or apply serum first, this helps the butter glide evenly and minimizes white cast.
Use a tiny scoop and warm between fingertips. Press a thin layer evenly across face and body, do not rub. For darker skin tones, repeat in micro-thin layers until fully absorbed to minimize white residue.
Reapply as needed. Store the butter under 25 °C (77 °F) and out of direct sunlight.

For melanated consumers…
I bought this after seeing a beloved actress’s daughter use it. I was excited about the ingredient list because I’ve been searching for a mineral sunscreen that is actually 100% mineral (almost all sunscreens listed as 100% mineral actually still include chemical boosters).
On first use, I liked the smell and the texture - but it has a Very obvious white cast. I was determined to play with it and make it work because I haven’t been able to find a true chemical free, natural product. With some tweaks it can work for us.
Tips:
1. MOISTURIZER. your skin MUST be hydrated before using this. After washing my face I like to spritz a botanical spray and then apply my moisturizer and then the sun butter. I notice a huge difference when my skin isn’t moisturized.
2. SPOT TREAT. I then dab a little of the sun butter on the slight hyperpigmentation spots I have to make sure they have fullest coverage.
3. MICRO THIN LAYERS. I then apply 2-3 THINNNNNNNN layers of the sun butter. If you slap it on thick you’ll be ghostly and ghastly, I like to take a tiny scoop and rub the fingertips of my right hand together first then gently press my butter covered hand onto my face so a thin layer appears. Then with my clean left hand, That layer is then pressed into my skin repeatedly before applying the next layer with my butter covered right hand. This ensures buildable coverage and mitigates white cast.
4. PRESS. DO NOT RUB.
5. MAKEUP. I’ve also found that a light swipe of foundation power (which I use anyway when going outside the house) eliminates any residual cast from my above method (though if you follow the method the white cast is barely noticeable).
There you have it. Is it really worth the extra when you could just buy a product without white cast? YES. I admit this is a whole lotta extra effort to make it work. But it really doesn’t take that long, and for me it’s worth it to take the extra steps because the ingredient list is THAT good. I want natural skincare as much as possible and this is as natural as it gets.
