Patchouli took over
"I remember trying Darby Rose years ago - I went through a sample of it and promised myself a full size bottle someday. It is an expensive fragrance but it was one, of only a few fragrances, I could wear without suffering a headache or feeling sick. However, I think this scent has changed …or perhaps my body chemistry has changed as I go through ‘the change’. The top notes are still of a light, sparkling floral, evoking a beautiful garden that you really want to idle in for a while and breath in the beautifully scented air that surrounds you…unfortunately now I find, once this fragrance has settled on me, the patchouli ascends and encompasses me the rest of the day and I want to take leave from that garden, tout de suite! The patchouli is certainly a sophisticated one but I was surprised at its dominance. In an effort to find some way to wear the fragrance, without it overpowering me, I started to spritz it once into the air in front of me, followed with JM RedRoses and walking through the spritzed mist… sadly, more and more frequently I find myself omitting the Darby Rose. I am sure this is a wonderful fragrance for many but unfortunately it is no longer on my favorites list."
