What Horsehair Brushes Should Be
"First, for the host - Beauty Habit did an amazing job shipping these super fast to where I live, and the package was secured like a vault. I have, up to this point, two of these brushes. This is what an investment brush should be. If you want a general purpose brush - not a dusting brush, not a stiff one that most Japanese shoe shine artists use to "distribute creams", and certainly something before you consider a goat hair brush - this is it. You can do everything with it, from very casual brushing (especially important for shell cordovan), to slowly even out the surface in preparation for a mirror shine. However, when this first gets to you, I personally recommend you brush it on a relatively blank piece of leather (probably a wallet or your briefcase) to take the edge off of the bristle. From when the brush begins to have a softer touch on the bristle, to when brushing on your shoes doesn't dull the finish, you know the brush is ready. It's an investment, and I think everyone should have at least two of Shoji Works brushes, whatever combo or choice."
