Pierre-Francois Lubin was born in 1774 and learned perfumery from the age of ten in Grasse, the world's thriving center of fragrance production. Impassioned and completely enthralled with the olfactory arts, at sixteen he left for Paris to continue his training under Jean-Louis Fargeon, the personal perfumer to Queen Marie-Antoinette.
The creations of the young perfumer were an immediate success with the aristocracy, including Napoleon's wife, Empress Josephine, and the chicest and fashion-forward trendsetters in Europe. In the early 20th century Lubin Parfums migrated to New York, and became known for such iconic fragrances as "Nuit de Longchamps" and "Gin Fizz", which was created for Grace Kelly in 1955.
In 1998 Gilles Thevenin revived this exquisite, legendary Perfume House- over 200 years old and truly one of France's oldest luxury brands. Collaborating with the former owners and perfumers who reorchestrated their formulas, Gilles opened a new page in the history of Lubin. Today the brand is based in the heart of Paris, continuing the tradition of using the finest ingredients and working with the most talented Master Perfumers, and continually inspired by dynamic women and heroic men who perfectly embody their eras.
