Metal is the most likely material to be recycled by municipal facilities. Also, the powder is lighter to ship (you add the water) so it has a lesser carbon footprint, too. Soak bottle in water to remove label, then repurpose or recycle.

The lotion doesn't have to be perfect in your hands, when you add it to your soaked hair, you'll be adding more water to the formula and the texture will get better and better. The slip should feel almost like a conventional liquid conditioner.
The conditioner powder can be used as a softening hair mask. For added moisture, put a few drops of your face oil, body oil or favorite oil into the mix.
