John Robshaw Candle
In its first ever collaboration, TOCCA meets John Robshaw in this Far East-inspired candle collection. TOCCA interpreted the energy and scents of some of Johns favorite local markets and beaches and puts them in handmade ceramic vessels. The distinctive designs are inspired from archival prints of the iconic textile designer.Java - On John's first batik printing trip to Java he landed in a local market in Yogyakarta. He can still smell the fragrances of that market - the clove cigarettes and the coffee beans sold by locals in hand printed batik sarongs.
Bentota - Landing in Sri Lanka, John weaved down to Bentota in an ancient taxi to leave the world behind. He was embraced by a tropical punch of bananas, papaya, pomegranate, pineapple leaves and a toss of sand.
Pondicherry - An old French colonial outpost in India, Pondicherry paints its mansions in fantastic alizarin pinks and cadmium yellows. Continue along to Goubert Market for baskets of vetyver, garland flowers, black currants and pamplemousse.
Srinigar - John settled into a houseboat in Srinagar on Dal Lake. Nestled in the Kashmir Valley, he spent his days visiting Mughal gardens framed by towering Chinar trees and smoky air.
