These processes determine the quality of the essential oils that result. Rather than aggressively extract these oils with steam, or even less ideally with undesirable solvents and intense pressure, perfumer Alexandra Balahoutis favors the use of hydro distillation. This method both honors and captures the soul of the plant as it gently lures the oil from its cellular material, allowing for the use of the plants previously considered too delicate to distill. A harmonic aromatic frequency that exceeds the commercial standards of decorative perfumery is thereby achieved. These aromas venture beyond mere smell into a realm of narrative perfumery, making us want to breathe more deeply.
The result is a line of ethereal perfumes that resonate into all the corners of our minds and bodies. They represent the dichotomy of the primitive and the refined; they are both abstract and corporeal.
